The International Forum on Post-Disaster Reconstruction

Dujiangyan, Sichuan China

 

INRULED will hold an international forum on post-disaster reconstruction in collaboration with the Research Institute on Development, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Beijing Normal University, Chengdu City Bureau of Education, and Dujiangyan City Government.

 

This forum is scheduled to take place in early May, 2010 in Dujiangyan city, Sichuan province. Its theme is “Post-Disaster Reconstruction: International Experiences and Policy Choices”. The forum will include reports and exchanges on issues of the impact of natural disasters on human race; the socio-economic reconstruction of local communities; educational reconstruction; the case of Sichuan province after the disastrous earthquake in May 2008.

 

The forum aims to promote and improve the reconstruction work in Sichuan after earthquake, summarize and share Sichuan experiences with countries worldwide and help governments to make better policy choices when responding to disasters and build their capacities in reconstruction management.

 

The participants will include officers from leading international organizations such as UNESCO; government officials from China; international practitioners in the area of post-disaster reconstruction; resource persons and experts on post-disaster reconstruction from China and abroad. The forum will include keynote reports, group discussions and field visits.
