This book presents a review of Chinese experience in e-learning by analyzing statistics and reports of the National Bureau of Statistics and the Ministry of Education, data and information from e-learning colleges and the open university system websites, and cases and materials from some e-learning colleges and open universities. It outlines the background of e-learning in the country and charts out its development. E-learning in this book has two forms: the e-learning colleges in 68 regular universities and the Open University system led by the Open University of China. E-learning at university level is widely seen as an effective way to deliver higher education and continuing education, in the context of insufficient education spending by the government and unbalanced development of education. This education primarily targets the next generation of farmers and migrant workers, women and youngsters, teachers in primary and middle school, doctors, technicians, and management personnel in rural areas.

E-Learning in China will benefit practitioners, researchers, and management staff involved in e-learning and also serve as a work of reference for learning, research, management, and operation of the e-learning industry.
